Jannetje Van Houten was born on May 13, 1687, in Bergen, New Jersey to Theunis Van Houten and Tryntje Kuyper. She married Arie Lammertse Smidt on January 17, 1711, in Haverstraw, New York. They had five children in 10 years. She died on April 18, 1760, in New York at the age of 72, and was buried in Martinus Hogenkamp Cemetery in New City, New York.
